The Breezy Point North Stars took the road, Friday night to take on the Rochester Ice Hawks, for their lone game of the weekend. The game started with a slow pace, as the both teams went scoreless in the first period. The North Stars outshot the Hawks, but Hawks goalie Bailey Schmitz, kept the Stars off the board, making 15 saves to keep the game at zeros.
Second period, the Stars capitalized on the Power Play, on Steven Kuklas 10th goal of the season, with assists coming from Tyler Larwood and Andrew Heckaman. North Stars continued to pressure the Hawks netminder, but the score stayed 1-0 to finish the period and Stars’ goal keeper, Sam Moberg continued his shutout play to close out the period.
With the 3rd period rolling the Stars got on the board again, with a shot from Defenseman Wyatt Stotts ripper form the point and assists going to Larwood and Josh Maucieri. With a shorthanded goal, coming the from the Hawks, the North Stars answered back with another Power play goal, coming off a slick back door bomb, from Tyler Larwood. Maucieri and Austin Langworthy would assist on the goal, making the score 3-1. The Stars would get a late full ice empty net goal, off the stick of Andrew Heckaman, with the assist going to Michael Behl. Sam Moberg would continue his solid play in net, to keep the game at 4-1, also making a total 25 saves, on the night and to seal the win for the North Stars.
The win moves the Stars to a record of 12-3-0-1 and holding the top spot, in the Western Division Standings.
