Blanchette to Captain the North Stars

The Breezy Point North Stars are proud to announce that Nick Blanchette, has been named team captain for the 2016-2017 season. Blanchette, a Defenseman, from Aitkin, has 6 goals and 5 assists, in 11 games this season. Nick is in his third season, with the North Stars. “Nick has been a great on and off ice leader, since the very first day of training camp, ” said coach Jon Jonasson. “His work ethic, drive and motivation is evident everyday. He has a high level of intensity, that he brings into every game and into the locker room, ” continued Jonasson. Nick played his high school hockey for the Northern Lakes Lightning and played under North Stars GM, Craig Larson. “Nick’s worth to our program, goes beyond a player looking to just keep playing hockey. His character and his game presence, is what some programs are built around,” said Larson. “The fact that he’s a local player is great, because it gives other local hockey players the vision of wearing a North Star sweater and have that opportunity to play in front of their families and friends, is a big deal around here,” Larson added.

North Stars head to Rochester this Friday, to finish the series with their central division opponents. Follow along on HockeyTV, to watch the game streamed live.
