Twin City\’s Luc Kreuser scored 32 seconds into overtime to beat Breezy Point, 4-3 (OT).
Brenden Russ had two goals and one assist to lead Twin City. Russ scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 9:59 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Twin City. A slashing penalty on Tyler Larwood had put Twin City on the power play. Yannick Zehnder provided the assist. Russ\’ next tally on the power play made the score 3-3 with 2:24 left in the second period. Alex Egle picked up the assist.
Twin City forced Breezy Point goalie Christian Sanzottera to work between the pipes, taking 33 shots. Twin City\’s defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals.
Twin City also got points from Joe Costello, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Kreuser, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Twin City were Nicholas Campbell, who had one and Jared Erickson, who had two.
Breezy Point was led by Jake Tomkowiak, who tallied one goal and two assists. Tomkowiak scored 12:27 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Christian Lenzmeier assisted on the tally. Breezy Point additionally got points from Lenzmeier, who also had one goal and one assist. Breezy Point also got a goal from Sean Viti as well. In addition, Breezy Point received assists from Jarett Green, Cory Dennis, and Andrew Heckaman, who contributed one each.
Jon Albers made 27 saves for Twin City on 30 shots. Twin City incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Sanzottera rejected 29 shots on goal for Breezy Point. Breezy Point incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
