Breezy Point wins tough contest against La Crosse, 4-2

In a game where neither team could get a cushion, Breezy Point escaped with a 4-2 victory over La Crosse.

Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Nick Blanchette secured the win for Breezy Point with a goal in the third period.

Breezy Point got the win on the strength of a great game by Blanchette, who had two goals and one assist. Blanchette scored the first of his two goals short handed at 12:15 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Breezy Point. Breezy Point played down a man on Alec Hooper\’s holding. Ryan Mezera provided the assist. Blanchette\’s next tally short handed made the score 3-2 Breezy Point with 1:44 left in the third period.

Breezy Point pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 37 penalty minutes.

Breezy Point excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in six chances. Breezy Point forced La Crosse goalie Will Graves to work between the pipes, taking 38 shots. Breezy Point\’s defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals.

Breezy Point also had goals scored by Christian Lenzmeier and Jake Tomkowiak, who each put in one. More assists for Breezy Point came via Austin Langworthy, who had one.

La Crosse was helped by Dylan Goggin, who racked up one goal. Goggin scored 13:15 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Breezy Point. Matt Wolter picked up the assist. Brady Thiering also scored for La Crosse. Other players who recorded assists for La Crosse were Jacob St. Andre, Ben Henderson, and Sam Dabrowski, who each chipped in one.

Magnus Lindhe recorded 26 saves for Breezy Point. Breezy Point registered one goal on four power play opportunities. Graves rejected 34 shots on goal for La Crosse. La Crosse ended with 23 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major.
