Behind a great game by David Kenney, who had one goal and two assists, the Granite City Lumberjacks defeated the Breezy Point North Stars, 6-0.
Kenney scored 1:07 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Granite City. Mitchell Gwost provided the assist. Kenney dished an assist on Jared Sprink\’s goal that made the score 3-0 Granite City at 9:08 into the second period. He added another helper on Blake Phenow\’s goal that made the score 5-0 Granite City at 1:41 into the third period.
Granite City kept Breezy Point\’s goalie busy throughout the game, and Dakota McDonald made 27 saves on 33 shots.
Granite City additionally got points from Luke Richardson, who also registered one goal and one assist and Sprink, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Granite City included Alek Groth and Blake Babineau, who each put in one. More assists for Granite City came via Dallas Marvin, who had two and Kevin Finley, Tobias Gabrielsen, Travis Kothenbeutel, and Georgy Ostapchuk, who each chipped in one.
The North Stars avoided man-down situations well, tallying one major for 15 minutes in penalty time. Breezy Point finished below its season average of 24.0 penalty minutes per game. The North Stars did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Breezy Point puts an average of 3.2 pucks into the net per game. The North Stars found themselves stymied offensively, and got off a mere 12 shots against the Lumberjacks\’ defense.
